Oasis Texas Brewing Company
Oasis Brewing's kitchen is throwing haymakers with its pimento beer cheese bacon burger and harvest quinoa bowl, per the Austin Chronicle's 2023 brewery power rankings.1
Why go
It has been brewing on the bluff above Lake Travis since 2014, 450 feet up, with a taproom on one side and a barrel room on the other for anything stronger.3 The Chronicle ranked it 24th in Austin in 2023 on a score of 71.5, its first appearance in that list, and credited a brewery back on its own beers after a contract-brewing spell for a larger company.1 The kitchen is the stronger half of the argument, and the beer to look for is the Patio Pounder Light Lager, which the same piece calls a great addition to the lager pervert scene.
1 All ages are welcome and so are pets.3 The catch is scheduling. The kitchen closes an hour before the taps every day, and the business shuts for weather often enough that the warning sits at the top of its own homepage.3
Order this / avoid
- The pimento beer cheese bacon burger, the dish the Chronicle names first, or the harvest quinoa bowl alongside it. The brewery's own menu lists the burger as the Pimento Cheese Burger and calls it a fan favorite, so expect the shorter name on the board.1
- Patio Pounder Light Lager, or Meta Modern Session IPA, which the Chronicle says
tastes like old times again.
1 - Sunset: take it from this side of the hill. The Chronicle's line is
Grab an eyeful of sunset here instead of the other place on the hill,
meaning the unrelated Oasis restaurant it shares a name and a bluff with.1 - Avoid: arriving in the last hour. Food service stops before the bar does.3
What locals & experts say
- The Austin Chronicle's brewery power rankings, Eric Puga, 10 October 2023, ranked Oasis Texas 24th in Austin on a score of 71.5, a new entry that year, and wrote:
Oasis Brewing's kitchen is throwing haymakers with its pimento beer cheese bacon burger and harvest quinoa bowl and a very diverse selection of taproom beers.
That is a scored staff editorial with a byline, and it sits apart from the Chronicle's Best of Austin readers poll.1 - The 2024 edition dropped it, naming it in the article's own dropped list as
Oasis, TX Brewing Co. (24)
and leaving it out of both the top 25 and the Just Missed band. The bracket is its 2023 rank. Read that as the same desk looking twice and thinking less the second time.2
Good to know
- Hours: taproom Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday noon to 9, Friday and Saturday noon to 10. Kitchen closes an hour earlier on each of those days. Closed Monday and Tuesday.3
- Weather: it describes itself as a weather-permitting business and closes accordingly, so check before making the drive.3
- Hygiene: covered, and it was worth checking. This address sits outside the Austin city line, but Austin Public Health's reach extends into unincorporated Travis County, and it scored the brewery kitchen at 6550 Comanche Trl 82 on 8 August 2025 and 86 on 30 June 2023. Both are well above the failing line, which in Austin is a score below 70. Three neighboring kitchens in the same development have their own records, and none of them is this one.4
- I haven't found a full review of the kitchen. The Chronicle's coverage is two paragraphs inside its rankings.
Verdict
could-visit — The Austin Chronicle put this kitchen on the record in 2023: "Oasis Brewing's kitchen is throwing haymakers with its pimento beer cheese bacon burger and harvest quinoa bowl." Order that burger, and drink the Patio Pounder Light Lager or the Meta Modern Session IPA, the two beers the same piece picks out. It ranked 24th in Austin on 71.5 that year as a new entry, then fell out of the 2024 top 25 altogether, so this is a solid lakeside stop and never a destination for beer. Two practical things matter more than the 450-foot view. The kitchen shuts an hour before the taps every day, and the business closes for weather and says so at the top of its own homepage. The health register reaches this far past the city line and has it at 82 and 86.
