A day out on the Ayrshire coast
The Ayrshire coast · 10 stops · 3 legs · 9 with pages
Troon, Prestwick and Ayr run south down the Firth of Clyde, forty to fifty minutes from Glasgow on the A77 or by train.
Boats land fish at Troon harbour and a shed fries it about thirty yards away. Work south from there: stop in Prestwick for a pint, walk Sandgate in Ayr for the ice cream, and carry on to Culzean if the afternoon holds.
The order runs north to south down the coast. The harbour chip shop keeps short seasonal hours, so check its page before you build the day around it.
Nine rooms carry pages and the castle at Culzean stands on its name and address. All of them came off Jeff's saved pins and all of them were checked against the Food Standards Scotland licensing records on 2026-08-16.
Troon and Prestwick4
The working harbour comes first, and Prestwick sits five minutes down the coast from it.
Ayr4
The town centre fills the ground between Sandgate and the river, ten minutes further south.
South to Culzean2
Another twenty minutes on the coast road takes you past Maybole to the castle.
