A day out to Stirling
Stirling · 8 stops · 2 legs · 7 with pages
Stirling sits at the neck of the country where the Forth stops being tidal, about fifty minutes northwest of Edinburgh.
The castle is on the rock and everybody goes up it, so go up it early and then come down into the old town, where Friars Street and Baker Street hold the coffee and the cooking. The carse west of town is farm-shop and distillery country.
Go up to the castle first, then come down into the streets below it, then drive whichever way west you fancy. Each room keeps its hours on its own page.
Seven rooms carry pages, and the castle stands on its own name and address. Three of the seven sit outside Stirling, in Kippen, Blair Drummond and Doune, which is where a Stirling day tends to end up anyway.
The old town4
The castle sits on the rock, and three streets of shops and rooms run directly under it.

West into the carse4
Flat farmland fills the ground between Stirling and the Trossachs, and it carries the farm shop and the distillery.
