Celis Brewery
Celis White is a Belgian-style witbier brewed by the family that revived the style, and it is still the pour this brewery is built on.1
Why go
Pierre Celis founded the brewery in Austin in 1992 and Celis White is its signature.3 It reopened in 2017 and is run now by his daughter Christine Celis with her daughter Daytona Camps brewing, and the taproom pours more than twenty locally brewed beers including a house Mexican lager, Celis CTX. Raphael Brion, writing for The Infatuation, describes the layout: There's a spacious taproom, a second indoor bar area, and an enormous beer garden/live music venue that's home to Backdraft Pizza and the very good Con Todo trailer serving tremendous Rio Grande Valley-tacos.

Order this / avoid
- Drink: Celis White first, because the whole reason this address exists is that a Belgian brewer decided Austin should have witbier. Then the Celis CTX lager if you want the house beer built for the weather.
- Eat: whatever truck is parked that day, and check the yard before you build a meal around it. The trailer both reviews single out, Con Todo, closed in early 2025, and every other name in those pieces was written in 2021 or 2022.2
- Avoid: planning a sit-down dinner here. The kitchen is the trucks.
What locals & experts say
- The Infatuation, Raphael Brion (23 May 2022), unrated: the outlet only rates places where you can eat a full meal, so it never scored this one. What it does give is the room and the trucks. Read the trucks as history: Con Todo, the trailer he calls very good, shut in early 2025, and Joseph Gomez cooks downtown at Sana Sana now.2
- CultureMap Austin (14 October 2021): Christine Celis on what the beer garden was for.
What I am most proud of is that while the brewery pays homage to my father and the traditional Belgian brewing style, our new beer garden represents Celis moving towards the future.

Good to know
- Where it is: 10001 Metric Boulevard in North Austin, in the cluster that also holds Austin Beerworks, 4th Tap, Circle and Hopsquad. The address comes from CultureMap and from the Austin Chronicle's brewery directory.
- The health permit is filed at a different address. Austin Public Health inspects Celis Brewery Beer Garden at 2101 Rutland Drive Building A, about 600 meters from the Metric Boulevard door, and nothing published explains the difference.
- Hours, as published in October 2021 and not since: the beer garden ran Wednesday and Thursday 3pm to 10pm, Friday through Sunday noon to 10pm. Treat that as five years old and check before driving out.3
- Hygiene: the kitchen scored 88 on 1 May 2026 and 99 on 19 December 2024, with a third routine row from 14 August 2024 carrying no published score. Nothing below 70, so nothing here is a finding under the Austin scheme.5
Verdict
could-visit — Pierre Celis brought witbier back from the dead in Belgium in the 1960s and then opened this brewery in Austin in 1992, and Celis White is still what you order. His daughter Christine runs it now with her own daughter Daytona Camps brewing, and the taps run past twenty. The reason to make an afternoon of it is the CTX Beer Garden, 12,000 square feet of outdoor seating with a music stage and food trucks, which in an Austin summer is the whole argument for drinking here. No critic has scored the beer: The Infatuation's page is unrated by the outlet's own policy for places without a full meal.
