Little Deli & Pizzeria
The sandwich bread is baked here every day. The meat and the cheese are cut to order behind the counter.2
Why go
Tony Villani's shop makes a Jersey-style pie, thin and foldable, and sells it by the slice as well as whole. So a fast stop is a real option.21 The Infatuation rates it 8.3. The sandwich half of the counter is the other reason to stop.1
Order this / avoid
- Take a slice, or a whole pie. The pieces come out large, foldable and a little crisp under a chewy crust.1
- Harry's Perfect Pastrami, which Nicolai McCrary calls one of the best pastrami sandwiches in town.1
- The Reuben or the cheesesteak if somebody else took the pastrami. Mick Vann rated the Reuben one of the best in town.2
- Avoid: the Briarcliff Blvd address if this is the shop you meant. It is a second location with its own kitchen.3
What locals & experts say
- Nicolai McCrary for The Infatuation, February 2024, on the sandwich:
The pastrami is shaved thin and piled high before getting topped with a generous scoop of coleslaw that cuts straight through the well-marbled meat.
1 - Mick Vann in the Austin Chronicle, on the pizza:
The crust makes the pie, and Little Deli's is superb: crisp and lightly charred, thin, slightly chewy, and flavorful.

Good to know
- Hygiene: clean. The name is shared. Austin Public Health scores this kitchen, at 7101 Woodrow Ave Unit A, 94 on 27 January 2026 and 99 on 22 October 2024. Both sit well clear of the city's failing line of 70. A second Little Deli & Pizzeria at 1804 Briarcliff Blvd is a different premises with its own record. Its scores are not this shop's.3
Verdict
should-visit — Nothing here is bookable, and nobody publishes hours or prices, so walk in and ask. Order a slice with half a sandwich and you have covered both halves of the shop in one sitting. The crust is what I would drive to Crestview for.
